Train lines have reopened after a fire which caused a signal fault at Gravesend yesterday.

Gravesend station was evacuated, and several emergency response vehicles were called to the scene, after the blaze broke out.

Two people were also treated by paramedics, while train services were stopped.

This morning, train operators Southeastern said services were returning to normal, but warned they could be subject to cancellations, delays or revisions.

There were further delays while engineers carried out testing on repair works, with no trains running between Rochester and St Pancras, or between Northfleet and Gravesend.

Services were expected to return to normal by 1pm.

Customers travelling between Faversham or the Medway Towns and London were advised to use alternative services to and from London Victoria.

Replacement buses were running between Rochester and Northfleet, while replacement buses at Higham will pick up from the A226 Gravesend Road, near Charles Dickens Avenue.
