Tributes paid to A2 crash victim Jean Shaw

Published: 11:19, 11 June 2013

The family of a woman killed in a car crash in Northfleet have today described her as "kind and loving".

Jean Shaw, 72, from Lennox Road, Gravesend, died when the Honda Jazz she was in was in a crash with a Vauxhall Corsa.

It happened at the slip roads on and off the A2 London-bound at Pepperhill shortly before 4pm on Sunday, June 2.

Her niece Suzie Harbinson said in a statement released today: "Jean was a loving Christian, who attended church without fail.

"She was a very kind and loving auntie, always smiling and always had a joke to make people laugh.

"She will be very sadly missed and I hope she rests in peace."

A 30-year-old man from Dartford, who was travelling in the Vauxhall Corsa, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been released on police bail until November 11.

Her neighbour, Kelly Davis, told KentOnline: "She was a lovely lady, always helping others and doing little things for me like taking in parcels.

"It's such an unnecessary and sad passing, she will be very missed."

Jean was often spotted at Woodlands Park on Dashwood Road walking her dog Jimmy.

Another friend, Julia Sandford, said: “She was a great lady and very friendly and kind to me.

"When I was ill she brought me flowers and cards and even hand-written jokes.

"She was a very religious lady and we often spoke about the Lord.

"Her faith was massive, so she is now with the No1 person in her life.

"I am shocked and devastated at this news. RIP my friend.”

Kent Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

DS Scott Lynch said: "We are making steady progress with establishing the cause of what happened but I urge anyone who witnessed the collision and has still not contacted us to do so."

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to phone police on 01622 798538.
