Fire at house in Church Road, Hartley near Gravesend

A fire in a boiler house left two people needing treatment for smoke inhalation.

The incident in Church Road, Hartley near Gravesend in the early hours of this morning saw four fire engines called to the scene.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene for more than three hours

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used fog spike tools and hose reel jets supported by a bulk water carrier doused the flames after they were called at 2.17am.

Firefighters were at the scene for more than three hours putting out the fire and making the scene safe.

The fire started in the boiler house attached to the garage of a home.

Residents were supported by teams from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service volunteer response team.

Paramedics treated two people for smoke inhalation but no serious injuries were reported.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said one person declined hospital treatment but the second attended themselves for further checks.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
