The tall ship Jean de la Lune will no longer be coming to Gravesend next week after getting stuck in Copenhagen.

Originally booked to be in the town from August 13- 21, the ship was sailing in the Baltic Sea when one of the generators stopped working.

It diverted to Copenhagen for repairs but a new generator will need to be brought from Italy with work not expected to be completed on time.

A spokesman for Sailing Dreams who organised the events said: “We are not prepared to do anything that may, albeit remotely, compromise the safety of any persons onboard.

“We are now in the process of contacting everyone concerned o make them aware of the situation and can only apologise for the inconvenience caused at this late stage,”

They added: “We would like to offer anyone who has already booked a trip with us the opportunity to join us at a later date for a complimentary sunset cruise on the Thames.”
