Partygoers have been warned to check tickets for their New Year's Eve festivities after police tracked down a scam event being advertised.

Officers were made aware of tickets being sold for an event at a football club in Gravesend tonight.

But after checking with bosses at Elite Venue, which is based at the Punjab United ground in Dunkirk Close, police discovered there is no such event planned to see in 2022.

Police have advised people planning to go to an event tonight to make sure any tickets bought for events are genuine before making their way to venues.

Insp James Beautridge, from the Dartford and Gravesham Community Safety Unit, said: "Sadly scammers will always find ways to target people in order to make money.

"There is no event planned at this venue and I would encourage people to check any tickets they have purchased are for genuine events before they head out this evening."
