Atrocious weather conditions failed to quell the action at Brands Hatch as the Kent circuit hosted the final round of the British Truck Racing Championship.

Matt Summerfield, who had already secured the Division 1 title, drove to victory in the final race.

He pipped David Jenkins to the line to end a race weekend that had taken place in saturating conditions as the rain persisted throughout.

The earlier ‘last chance’ qualifying race had seen last year’s champion Jenkins dominate proceedings, finishing almost 24 seconds ahead of second-placed man Sascha Lenz.

Summerfield had won the first of Sunday’s three races while Saturday’s Division 2 race was won by Tonbridge-based champion David Smith.

Fellow Kent racers John Powell, from Herne Bay, and West Kingsdown’s James Aitkenhead were forced to retire, while another West Kingsdown resident, Oscar Clark, finished in seventh.
