Young players from Charlton Athletic will form part of Steve Brown’s new-look Ebbsfleet squad next season.

Brown played alongside Addicks boss Chris Powell at The Valley for four years and the pair will meet to arrange loan deals between the clubs.

The Fleet have used the loan system well in recent seasons and Brown is keen to make the most of his Charlton connections – although he is also looking at youngsters elsewhere.

He said: “There are a lot of young players out there. The stats in football are frightening – 80% of players are being released before they’re 21. Ebbsfleet is a club that needs to be aware of these players.

“I’ve made contact with Chris Powell and we’re having a meeting at some point but he’s away in Turkey doing his Pro Licence so that’s not an option for me at the moment.

“As the season develops, I will bring in loan players from Charlton and there will be players I bring in for pre-season.”
