Ebbsfleet United boss Steve Brown expecting a hard game at Staines Town in Skrill South

Promotion-chasing Ebbsfleet are up against the form team in Skrill South this weekend.

On Saturday the Fleet travel to face a Staines Town side whose six-match unbeaten run has taken them to within three points of the play-offs.

Staines have only lost twice at home all season and Brown knows Marcus Gayle’s side are likely to prove more stubborn opponents than when they lost 3-0 at Stonebridge Road seven weeks ago.

He said: "It’s going to be a tough ask. Staines are extremely competitive on their own ground and not lost to any of the top teams. Their home record is good.

"We’re not a bad team. We go to places like that thinking we can get a result but we’ve got to be respectful of the fact they have a different impetus about them on home soil."

Staines' impressive home record got even better on Tuesday when they won 1-0 against Havant & Waterlooville, who themselves would have gone above fifth-placed Dover with a win.

The Fleet are looking for a third straight win and they know maximum points points at Wheatsheaf Park could take them to within one of Sutton, who sit third.
