Confident Ford unworried by Weston

CONFIDENT: Andy Ford

GRAVESEND & Northfleet manager Andy Ford says his players are full of confidence after an excellent 2-2 draw at Conference leaders Chester City last Saturday.

After winning twice against Margate over the festive period, Ford is confident his team can maintain their good record when they host Weston-super-Mare in the third round of the FA Trophy on Saturday.

And although he rested a few of his first-choice players for the 3-0 home defeat in the Kent Senior Trophy game with Dover on Tuesday, a full-strength side is expected.

Ford said: "If we do well, financially, it's a little more rewarding than last year. Over-confidence won't be a problem because the players know it won't be an easy game but they will be up for it and will feel they can beat anyone.

"The Chester game was particularly pleasing because after going into the match with a specific game plan we needed to change it at 2-0 down at the break."

Although Weston-super-Mare are struggling near the relegation zone in the Dr Martens League, Premier Division, Ford insists they'll be a tough side to play against.

He said: "We had Weston-super-Mare watched last weekend and they appear to be a very physical side who are good at set pieces.

"We'll have to be wary of that but we won't worry too much about them and just concentrate on our own performance."
