Dartford manager Tony Burman looks ahead positively after two defeats

Dartford manager Tony Burman has urged supporters to keep the faith in the wake of back-to-back Skrill Premier defeats.

Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Halifax followed a 3-0 reverse at Aldershot four days earlier but Burman was not overly concerned by either performance.

And he is confident the Darts can get their season back on track when they entertain Braintree at Princes Park this weekend.

Burman said: “We’re only talking about a week into the season. We’ve had a couple of defeats. I’d like to have more points on the board but I haven’t.

"At the moment, it’s not gone quite right but I hope people don’t think my team hasn’t tried or hasn’t played well because I don’t think that at all.

“I can’t fault the work-rate the guys have put in. I feel sorry for the defenders because, although we’ve lost 3-0 and 2-0, we haven’t defended badly.

“I’m confident we’ve got goals in the side. We haven’t got forward as well as I’d have liked and it just hasn’t come off for the two guys up front (Adam Birchall and Jason Prior) but I’m confident in their ability.”

Burman could welcome back defenders Tyrone Sterling and Matt Fry against Braintree.

Fry injured his hamstring on the first day of the season and hasn’t played since, while Sterling (ankle) is still waiting for his first taste of competitive action in a Dartford shirt.
