Ebbsfleet United have secured the signing of former Gillingham captain Josh Wright.

The 32-year-old midfielder has had spells at Millwall, Leyton Orient, Southend, Bradford and Crawley. He was voted player-of-the-year during his time with the Gills.

Last season he played for Billericay Town against Ebbsfleet after spending six months with the Essex side.

Fleet’s newest signing told the club’s website: “Last season, I could really see the style of the side and the way they were trying to play.

“I’ve had a chat with Dennis (Kutrieb, the manager) about the roles, where he sees me fitting in and what he would want me to do and it was music to my ears.

“Now I just want to get out there and to be working towards a successful season to take this club back up to at least where it deserves to be.”
