Ebbsfleet hung on to earn three vital points against nine-man Maidenhead to keep their Vanarama Conference South play-off hopes alive.

Adam Cunnington got Ebbsfleet off to a flying start, lifting the ball over the keeper from outside of the box to give the home side a first-minute lead.

Fleet were made to work hard to maintain their advantage, as the visitors tried to get back into the game.

However it was Fleet who went closest to adding a second before the break, as Sean Shields couldn't quite get on the end of a dangerous Matt Godden cross.

The main talking points of the second half were the two red cards for Maidenhead.

First, Mark Nisbet was sent off for tackle on Marsh on 70 minutes and that was followed 12 minutes later by the dismissal of De'Reece Vanderhyde, for a second yellow card.

Before that Maidenhead had enjoyed long spells of good possession, while at the other Stuart Lewis started and finished a move, but shot straight at the visiting keeper.

Despite being down to nine men it was the visiting side who pressed during the final minutes, but Fleet saw the game out.

The result leaves Fleet just seven points outside the play-off places, with a game in hand.
