Ebbsfleet's hopes of reaching the Vanarama Conference South play-off suffered a blow after losing at rivals Concord.

With six games left the 1-0 defeat leaves Fleet in ninth place, 10 points off fifth, though they do have two games in hand.

Ebbsfleet went into the match with new signing Luke Rooney in the starting line-up, however despite that boost, they found themselves behind after just three minutes and they never really looked like finding an equaliser.

Taylor Miles opened the scoring for the hosts from a direct free-kick, finding its way into the bottom left corner.

Fleet hit back with a decent spell of pressure. Rooney's cross found Stuart Lewis but he couldn't get enough on it and couple of other crosses put the home side under decent pressure.

Sean Shields had a shot deflected clear before good play from Ben Jefford and Lewis caused panic in the Concord six-yard box, before they scrambled the ball clear.

Two minutes before the break, Fleet had their best chance of the first half, but Matt Godden saw his header palmed away by the keeper.

The first chance of the second half fell for Joe Gardner, who could have doubled Concord's lead after beating the Fleet backline, but he pulled his shot way wide.

At the other end, Rooney pounced onto an Adam Cunnington flick but, again, the finish was missing as he fired over the bar.

Cunnington himself was next to be guilty of missing the target, this time it was only inches over after Concord only half cleared a corner.

The more Fleet pressed forward the further Concord dropped back, making it hard for the visitors to find space and create chances.

Danny Kedwell was introduced late on as Fleet fielded four strikers in their search of a vital leveller.

However that didn't come to leave Fleet's play-off hopes in tatters.
