DAISH: "We have to start looking more dangerous going forward as the best form of defence is attack"

Oxford United v Ebbsfleet United

EBBSFLEET United manager Liam Daish is keen to look forward following recent criticism of his first-team squad.

Daish blasted his players following their 2-0 defeat against Forest Green Rovers in the Blue Square Premier last Saturday.

Fleet were without a game at the weekend following their exit from the FA Cup against Exeter City but return to action against Oxford United on Saturday.

The Us go into the game on the back of a 3-1 win over Northwich and will be looking to impress their new manager Darren Patterson following Jim Smith’s move into a director’s role.

Daish said: "Without going into too much detail, I think I’ve got players that maybe need a bit of time out of the side or that see their futures elsewhere.

"But I’m not going to go over old ground as I’m looking forward to the game. It is a tough place to go but it is a game we can enjoy."

Daish is likely to make alterations to his starting line-up after threatening changes following the team’s defeat against Forest Green but he is keen to draw a line under that performance and is looking forward to bouncing back against Oxford.

He added: "We have to start looking more dangerous going forward as the best form of defence is attack. I’m looking for improvement all round. I think everyone has to step up.

"I’ve asked for that during training and now I’m looking forward to delivering it."
