Ebbsfleet manager Steve Brown wants to sign two more players before the start of the season – but he’s in no rush.

Brown already has a 20-man squad at his disposal following the arrival of striker Charlie Sheringham this week.

And with the new season just over five weeks away, Brown’s remaining transfer targets are trying their luck with clubs higher up the pyramid.

He said: "I’m looking for one or two more, but I can afford to wait. Looking at the players I have at the moment, I have a strong squad.

"I’m in a position where I can be picky. I want one more centre-half and a wide player, but I won’t bring anyone in for the sake of it.

"I’m speaking to players at the moment but I’m not close (to signing them). That’s the best way I can put it. They’ve got options at this time of year, they’re on trial with League clubs, and I’m probably not their first-choice."
