Ebbsfleet have added another new face to their squad, with the signing of left-back Aiden Palmer.

The 26-year-old former Leyton Orient player joins from Chelmsford City.

He made close to 50 appearances for Orient during a five-year spell with the London club.

Palmer has also played for Dagenham, Bishop’s Stortford and Cambridge United.

At Chelmford he played regularly, as they chased promotion in the last two seasons.

Palmer told the club’s website how eager he was to make it back into the Football League.

He said: “My goal in joining Ebbsfleet is to first gain promotion to the Conference Premier, and then eventually to make it into the Football League.

“I think we have signed some great players already that can help us achieve that goal and I look forward to getting on the pitch with them and enjoying a bright future at the Fleet.”

Palmer's arrival follows the recent additions from Dover of Ben May and Daryl McMahon.

Gareth Gwillim, who ended last season as the Fleet's first-choice left-back, announced his retirement this week.

Gwillim, 30, joined Ebbsfleet in January and he made 14 appearances for the club. His previous clubs included Bishop's Stortford and Histon and he was part of the AFC Wimbledon side which won promotion to the Football League in 2011.
