Liam Daish's side are on a good run

Ebbsfleet v Grays

EBBSFLEET host Grays Athletic in the Blue Square Premier Division on New Year’s Day hoping to build on a fledging unbeaten sequence of games.

Last weekend’s 1-0 win at Stafford Rangers means Liam Daish’s charges have gone four games without defeat - starting with a 4-1 demolition of Carshalton in the FA Trophy, a 3-2 Setanta Shield win over Exeter and a 1-1 draw at Grays on Boxing Day.

The win over over struggling Stafford lifted Ebbsfleet to ninth in the table, six points off the play-off zone.

Saturday’s last-minute goalscoring hero John Akinde now has two goals in as many games after returning from loan spells at Margate and Whitstable.

The 18-year-old also scored Ebbsfleet’s equaliser in the Grays draw and will be hoping to be on the scoresheet again as the two face-up to each other for the second time in a week.

Akinde looks likely to start again while skipper Paul McCarthy continues to serve a suspension after being sent off at Grays.
