GOAL: John Akinde got his sixth of the season

Ebbsfleet United 2 Burton Albion 1

EBBSFLEET'S winning run was extended on Saturday as they beat Burton Albion 2-1 at Stonebridge Road in Blue Square Premier.

The home side took the lead on 13 minutes when Stacy Long's free kick eventually fell to Neil Barrett who finished superbly from the edge of the box.

Burton came out stronger after the break and Fleet keeper Lance Cronin had to be at his best to deny John McGrath.

But Ebbsfleet doubled the advantage on 68 minutes when John Akinde collected Chris McPhee's long throw and steered his sixth goal of the season past Kevin Poole.

Substitute Daryl Clare gave Burton a glimmer of hope with a fine 89th minute strike, but they failed to find an equaliser.
