DAISH: says his side has a score to settle

GRAVESEND & Northfleet entertain Grays tonight on a mission to avenge their early season 6-1 humiliation by the Nationwide Conference title challengers (kickk off 7.45pm).

The Fleet left Bridge Road on August 16 shell-shocked by the mauling in only their second match of the season. Now manager Liam Daish is looking for his side to make amends.

"We've a score to settle," he said. "You could say we had an horrendous day at the office and hopefully we'll do a lot better in the return.

"I'm not going overboard about that defeat but hopefully we'll turn up as a side and work hard."

The Fleet, who moved to within six points of the Conference play-offs with Friday's 2-0 defeat of Canvey, face a formidable task as Grays' eight away wins is the best in the competition.

Daish could give a debut to left-sided defender Robert Watkins who has joined the club on a month's loan from Fulham. He follows Ashley Fuller into Stonebridge Road.

Fuller, a left-sided midfielder from Cambridge United, made his debut as a late substitute in Friday's defeat of Canvey.

Fleet top-scorer Charlie MacDonald, whose goal against Canvey took his tally for the season to 14, has a agreed a one-year extension to his contract, as has central defender Ross Smith.
