Stacy Long felt Fleet deserved to go through

MIDFIELDER Stacy Long was a relieved man after his goal booked Ebbsfleet United's place in the FA Trophy semi-finals for the first time in the club's history.

Fleet needed extra-time to edge out Burton 1-0 in the quarter-final replay at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday night.

Long scored the crucial goal in the 115th minute when he met substitute George Purcell’s cross with a shot which squirmed under goalkeeper Saul Deeney’s body before rolling into the net.

He said: "It's good to score at any time, I don't think anyone particuarly enjoys penalties so I was delighted to get the goal when we did.

"Burton are a good side. We probably weren't at our best but I thought we deserved to go through.

"I was a bit embarrassed to score. It was the worst shot of the night. But that's what happens. Sometimes you scuff it and it goes in.

"It was a great feeling and the main thing is we're through."
