Alfie Pavey is already into double figures at Dartford and he’s not about to take his foot off the pedal.

The former Millwall striker scored his 10th of the season at Burgess Hill on Saturday to fire his new club into the first round of the FA Cup.

Pavey’s averaging almost a goal a game in Darts colours and he’s determined to keep justifying manager Tony Burman’s faith in him.

He said: “I wanted to get double figures before Christmas so to have done that already is a good achievement for me. But it’s only October and I’ve got to keep going.

“I’m enjoying my football and if the goals don’t come, I’ve got to participate in another way, whether that’s assists or just working hard.

“I’m pleased with myself because it’s been a tough year in a football sense. I’ve gone out on loan and it’s never worked for me.

“I went back to Millwall and sat about, playing under-23s.

“All I ever wanted was to play games and to finally get a chance from Tony, I’ve now got a manager who believes in me and who’s honest with me.

“Everyone wants a manager who respects the players.

“I feel like he’s one of us. He’s been there so long and everyone knows what he expects and that if you let your standards drop, you’re going to know about it.”

Pavey is certainly enjoying playing alongside winger Ryan Hayes.

“He’s probably assisted most of my goals,” Pavey said.

“It’s just his quality and I do joke with him that ‘if you’re not on it today, I’m not on it because I need your help.’

“We do have a laugh about it but everyone’s doing well at the moment.”
