Rain decimates Sunday football fixtures

Heavy overnight rain decimated the weekend’s North Kent Sunday League programme, with only one game surviving.

Division 4 leaders Ye Olde Leather Bottel took full advantage, chalking up a 6-1 win against bottom-side Cliffe Wood Rangers.

Alex Riley hit a hat-trick, Dean McPherson netted two goals and Ben Warren also scored. John McDowell replied for Rangers.

This winter has seen the worst for postponements since the 1999-2000 season. To deal with the backlog of games, double fixtures are starting from Sunday.
