Alex Reid is determined to repay Garry Hill's faith after scoring the first goal of his loan spell at Ebbsfleet.

Stevenage striker Reid, 24, will be with the Fleet until January and after coming off the bench for his debut has started both games since.

He netted the opener against Eastleigh on Saturday and took up good positions during the 1-1 draw.

"It's nothing but a positive to me," said Reid about his temporary move away from the League 2 club.

"I want to play games, score goals and the gaffer's given me the opportunity to do that.

"He's stuck me in, showed faith in me and hopefully I can keep repaying him with goals.

"I had a loan spell towards the end of last season with Fylde and it was the same thing, getting game time and looking to build on it.

"The gaffer's said the more game time I have, the better I'll get and hopefully goals will come and results will start turning our way as well.

"I've enjoyed it so far. It's a great group of lads, the gaffer's made me welcome as have the lads in the changing room.

"I already knew Bally (James Ball, from Stevenage) and it's positive.

"We took a point from Dover, who have started on fire and we could have taken three points off Eastleigh."

Reid made a smart run to convert Ball's low cross inside the six-yard box.

"It's always nice to get on the scoresheet," he said. "But it felt like a loss because of the amount of chances we had.

"We could have come away winning 3-1 or 4-1 on a different day but that happens."
