Former Gillingham winger Luke Rooney is making his Ebbsfleet debut in Saturday's clash at Concord after joining from League 2 Luton Town on Thursday.

The 24-year-old signed for Luton last March, following a spell with Maidstone. After helping the Hatters to win promotion from Vanarama Conference, Rooney had scored five goals in 13 appearances in an injury-hit season in League 2.

On Thursday Rooney and Luton mutually agreed to cancel his contract, leaving him clear to sign for Fleet in Vanarama Conference South.

Rooney, who started his career at Gillingham, breaking into the first team in 2008, is the latest former Blue to join the ranks at Stonebridge Road.

Danny Kedwell, Matt Fish and Stuart Lewis have all signed in recent months.
