Man injured in Douglas Road, Herne Bay crash

A man has been injured after a car flipped in a serious crash in Herne Bay.

Emergency services descended on Douglas Road this morning following the incident at around 8.20am.

The air ambulance was seen landing at Herne Bay Memorial Park as the team joined ground crews at the scene.

Some three fire engines were called to the scene, while police closed the road. They removed a car door in order to free one casualty.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 8.20am today regarding a report of an overturned car in Douglas Road, Herne Bay.

"Officers attended the scene along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service, where a man was treated for injuries.

"The road was closed while arrangements were made to recover the vehicle".

A spokesperson for the Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the service was "called to Douglas Road in Herne Bay to reports of a vehicle on its roof.

"Three fire engines attended and crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove a car door and free one casualty, who was handed into the care of SECAmb paramedics and the air ambulance. Firefighter made the scene safe."

The ambulance service has been approached for comment.
