The mum of a teenager who was allegedly attacked as he walked with his girlfriend is warning parents to remain vigilant.

Paul Baker was heading through Central Parade in Herne Bay with his partner at about 4.45pm yesterday when he was reportedly assaulted by a group of boys.

Mum Raichal Coombs says the 15-year-old was left "battered and bruised", and might have to go under the knife for extensive dental surgery.

"He’s missing half a tooth," she told KentOnline.

"He’s a bit battered and bruised.

"This isn’t the first time something like this has happened round here before."

Ms Coombs, who works as a driving instructor, says she has "spoken to various parents who have said the same thing about not feeling safe" in the town.

She fears "it's like a ticking time bomb in the Bay and it’s only a matter of time before somebody gets seriously hurt".

Police have confirmed they received a report a boy had been attacked shortly after the incident.

"It began in Central Parade and moved on to Mortimer Street," a spokesman for the force said.

"An investigation is underway and three boys have been arrested while enquiries to establish the full circumstances continue."

Anyone who witnessed the incident and has yet to speak to detectives should call them on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number 46/243637/22.
