There were street urchins and housemaids galore as Briary Primary School children stepped back in time for a play.

The theme of the middle years production was the Victorians and it featured 120 pupils from Year 2 and Year 3 showing their enterprise and gumption.

Pupils from Year 2 and Year 3 staged the production

Year 3 teacher Margaret Huxley said: “It was a Victorian adventure. The children went back in time to track down the great-great-grandmother of one of the children.

“They encountered all the different scenes of Victorian life, with orphanages, schools, workhouses and factories.”

Ms Huxley said: “It went really well and the children and parents really enjoyed it.”
