A kitchen blaze is believed to have started after a Christmas pudding caught fire in a microwave.

Firefighters were called to New Road in Herne Bay after a woman thought to be in her 70s alerted them at 9.15pm last night.

Crews cleared the smoke from the property and carried out a home safety visit.

They then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.

The woman was given a precautionary check by paramedics.
