A SELF-CONFESSED double bigamist who is facing a jail sentence later this month, says her life is in ruins.

Karen Kennedy, a 44-year-old Herne Bay housewife, said she had become the victim of a hate campaign and was now ostracised by the community.

Mrs Kennedy decided to break her silence after finding her Siamese cat, O'Malley, dead by the roadside near her home in Gordon Road last Wednesday and her car wrecked by vandals last weekend.

She described the two attacks as the last straw, with her life in turmoil after admitting two bigamy charges committed on July 12 and November 6, 2002.

She will be sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on May 28 along with Bajlu Khan, 41, of Hawthorne Avenue, Canterbury, who admitted at the court last Thursday aiding and abetting Mrs Kennedy to go through a form of marriage with Quddus Abdul on November 6, 2002.

When Khan, owner of the Khan Tandoori Restaurant in William Street, Herne Bay, appeared at crown court in December, he denied another similar allegation, which Judge Adele Williams on Thursday directed be left on the file.

Mrs Kennedy has already admitted two bigamy charges. The first, in July, involved marriage to a man called Mahith Abdul.

Meanwhile, she claims her life on bail has been made hell. She said she had been completely ostracised.

"I used to play darts for a local pub but they say they don't want to know me," she said. "My neighbours don't speak to me and someone shouted abuse in the street the other day.

"On another occasion, I received an abusive mobile text message. I have been the victim of two attempted burglaries. Things got even worse last week when first I found my beloved cat dead by the roadside. I have my suspicions about how O'Malley died.

"At the weekend I found my Peugeot 306 wrecked by vandals. Nothing was stolen from the car by the vandals who used screwdrivers."
