Herne Bay: Driver on the run after police chase

A driver is still on the loose after a police chase in Herne Bay last night.

Officers followed a Hyundai Accent along Thorden Wood Road at around 11pm after identifying the vehicle as being "linked to suspicious activity".

The driver failed to pull over and a tactical stop by officers forced the vehicle to career off the road into a field.

A police spokesman said: "The driver then ran from the scene and a search for the suspect was supported by a police helicopter crew.

"The initial search failed to locate a driver and enquiries are ongoing to locate him

"The car has been seized for forensic evidence."
