Suspected burglar from Whitstable tracked down by police dog Boris in Herne Bay

A man suspected of attempted burglary has been charged after being tracked down by a police dog called Boris.

Robert Watts, of Walmer Road, Whitstable, is accused of attempting to break into a shop in Herne Bay.

Police dog Boris tracked down a suspected burglar

Police were called following reports that someone was trying to raid a shop in Hampton Pier Avenue, at 2.30am, on Tuesday, November 15.

The suspect reportedly left empty-handed not long before police dog Boris and his handler arrived.

The German shepherd traced a scent to a nearby flat where a 37-year-old man was arrested.

Watts has been charged with attempted burglary and refusing to give a sample for a drug test.

He was bailed to appear before Margate Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, December 20.
