Police are today hunting two men seen approaching children at a Herne Bay primary school.

Suspicions were raised after a woman saw the pair on the pavement outside Hampton Primary School at 10.20am on Friday.

She saw them walk up to a 10-year-old boy to ask him his age.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

At 2.30pm, the pair emerged from an alley in Beaumont Street. As a 10-year-old girl walked past, one of the men stroked her arm.

The men are described as "disheveled" and between 27 and 30.

Police said the other man had dark hair, was wearing a dirty blue tracksuit top and was carrying a child's rucksack.

Police spokesman Lisa Humphrys said an investigation is now under way.

She added: "Police have visited the parents of both children and the local police community support officer is conducting extra patrols in the area."
