Herne Bay Indian takeaway Masala Bay and West Malling catering firm The Indian Dish scoop gongs at English Curry Awards

An Indian takeaway and a catering firm are two Kent firms to have scooped gongs at this year's Curry Awards.

Masala Bay in Herne Bay was crowned the south east's best curry house for takeaway and delivery, while The Indian Dish in West Malling bagged Caterer of the Year.

The English Curry Awards celebrate the best of restaurants and takeaways across the country.

Mohammed Rahman, who co-owns Masala Bay along with Bodrul Islam, is delighted with the gong.

"It’s a pleasure to pick up this accolade," he said.

"Our dedicated team has been serving the very best to Herne Bay for nearly two decades now."

West Malling-based catering firm The Indian Dish scooped Caterer of the Year, with bosses taking to social media to share their delight.

The company posted: "We are feeling truly blessed and grateful to each and every one of our customers for trusting us to create memories that will last a lifetime for friends, family and guests.

"A special thank you to our dear friend [Joey Cocoa] for joining us at the awards and working many events in the early days with us out of pure love.

"Thank you from everyone in the team."

The Birmingham Airport NEC hotel played host to 350 guests on Monday, after winners were chosen by the public in a vote.
