A man has been charged with attacking a woman who answered her door to him in Herne Bay.

Joseph Meizen, 26, is accused of attempted wounding with intent following the incident in Wrentham Avenue, Greenhill.

Reports on social media suggested the woman, who was in her 30s and suffered a head injury, was struck with a crowbar.

The woman was injured in Wrentham Avenue

It happened just before 8.30pm on Tuesday, July 11 and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Meizen, of Town Court Close, Herne Bay, appeared at Canterbury Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody.

He will appear in court at a yet-to-be-confirmed date.
