Herne Bay high street incident leaves woman in 70s seriously injured

An elderly woman has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a van.

Police were called to the scene in Herne Bay High Street following the incident near the junction with Dolphin Street.

It is believed a Volkswagen Transporter was reversing at the time the woman was struck.

The woman, who is in her 70s, was later rushed to a local hospital following the incident at about midday on Friday.

Officers are urging anyone with information about the incident to call them on 01843 222289, quoting the crime reference number 02-0621.
