Onlookers mesmerised by twister over sea

THEY are more usually often seen in the dark skies of the mid-western United States or destroying shacks in Asia, but are rarely seen above the north Kent coast.

But this was the striking scene a twister hovered in the sky and was pictured from Herne Bay.

Kite-boarding instructor Andrew Fisher, 30, was among those on the coast who spotted the phenomenon.

He said: "We all stopped what we were doing and stood mesmerised by it because you hardly ever see them around here.”

The twister remained in the sky for about 20 minutes before disappearing. It was also spotted in other areas along the coast, including Tankerton and Thanet.
