Everything was ship-shape when 60 years of Herne Bay Sea Cadets were celebrated at the Kings Hall.

The annual inspection was carried out by town MP Roger Gale and Deputy Lieutenant of Kent Brig John Meardon, who is also president of the unit.

This year’s prize winners included Leading Cadet Thomas Clifton, who was presented with the shield for Best Cadet, and Thomas Heathcote, 11, who collected the trophy for Best Junior Cadet.

A number of displays took place throughout the evening, including guard, drill and physical training exercises.

Music on the night came from the combined bands of Herne Bay and Dover Sea Cadets and The Kent Police band.
