Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole 50 Christmas trees from Homebase in Herne Bay.

Shocked staff found a fence had been damaged at the back of the store on Eddington Business Park following the incident.

Detective Inspector Vicki Tyler said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have more details that will help us to locate these missing trees.

"It is highly likely that whoever took them will attempt to sell them in the local area or further afield.

"We would urge anyone who is approached to buy a tree, which is clearly not from a reputable company, to contact the police immediately."
