Teenager arrested on suspicion of 'rape' after girl attacked in Herne Bay alleyway

A 16-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a teenage girl was attacked in an alleyway.

The incident happened between 2pm and 3.30pm yesterday afternoon, on a footpath leading between the A2990 Old Thanet Way and Eddington Lane in Herne Bay.

Police were alerted at about 4.30pm, and the path in question was taped off by officers.

A police spokesman said: "A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed while inquiries continue.

"Both parties are known to each other."
