Herne Bay was transformed into the land of the living dead as more than 2,000 zombies shuffled through on Saturday night.

Huge crowds lined the streets for the Halloween spectacle, with horror fans young and old dressing as the undead.

It was the fourth – and biggest – Zombie Crawl since the first in 2011, and was followed by a sold-out zombie ball at the Kings Hall, which was enjoyed by almost 600 people.

Organiser Gerald McCarthy said: “We had baby zombies and grandpa zombies, which just shows the huge appeal of the event. Hundreds of people lined the route along the seafront and through the town.

“A big thanks to Herne Bay Rotary Club for manning the road closures, and to all the businesses, groups and individuals that made the Herne Bay Halloweek festival the best one yet.

“Next year, as Halloween and the Zombie Crawl fall on the same date, Saturday, October 31, expect the biggest crawl ever, followed by a free seafront fireworks display to boot.”
