Baldwin appeared via virtual court this morning for the alleged attack.

Five police cars, an ambulance and a forensics van were called to the scene at around 9.30am after the man was injured.

“I noticed a lot of police cars and I was shocked to hear that somebody had been stabbed.”

The street attack was thought to have occurred near the Red Lion Square end of the High Street.

A woman employee in the area, who did not want to be named, said: “I noticed a lot of police cars and I was shocked to hear that somebody had been stabbed.”

Witnesses noticed as many as five police cars in the area and a forensic vehicle.

The ambulance service also had a heavy presence at the scene, sending two ambulances and two cars. They were joined by an air ambulance car with a doctor and paramedic.

Ambulance service spokesman Richard Airey said: “We were called to the scene at 9.15am.
