Gorillas go bananas over Easter eggs

GORILLAS have had a cracking time tucking in to chocolate Easter eggs at Port Lympne zoo near Hythe.

Djala and his family of 12 Western Lowland Gorillas were given an Easter treat when they were presented with ten large eggs to unwrap and feast on in the garden of the Palace of the Apes.

The eggs were donated by Sainsbury's and Lindon Prudence of the Folkestone store was there to watch the animals enjoy the rare banquet.

Sainsbury's contribute daily to Port Lympne by providing them with damaged and out of date fruit, vegetables, cheese, and in this case chocolate.

Goods have been delivered for the past four months by Paul Foot of McDonald Brown Engineers, a contractual engineer for Sainbury's, whose idea it was to supply the park with all the products that would have usually gone to waste.
