A road has reopened after a crash in a town centre earlier this afternoon.

The A259 in Hythe had to be shut after reports of a motorcycle crash causing very slow traffic through the town.

Tailbacks built up around the town centre and buses had to be cancelled.

A motorcycle was reportedly involved in a crash on Rampart Road with police attending and closing the road to move the vehicle.

The road was reopened after a brief closure of around 30 minutes.

It was partially blocked and congestion reported on Dymchurch Road to Scanlons Bridge and Seabrook Road to Mill Road.

Stagecoach warned passengers to expect delays with services along the coast to and from Folkestone suspended or cancelled.

The road was reopened at 2.30pm.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said the motorcyclist was taken to the William Harvey Hospital after an ambulance crew came across the incident while returning from another task in the town.
