A police dog tracked down an alleged drink driver who had fled from the scene of a car crash and hidden himself in bushes at a motorway roundabout.

Eli was deployed along with handler PC Ed Goldswain after officers were called to the crash near junction 11 of the M20 motorway at Hythe at 6.50pm on Sunday, August 20.

The driver had left the scene, and a search of the surrounding areas ended without success. But Eli found a hidden track over rough terrain, where the suspect was hiding among the bushes.

A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and was also found in possession of class A and class B drugs. He was also arrested on suspicion of driving while uninsured and for stealing a driving licence.

He remains in custody.
