Tim Dixon is the new manager of Hythe Town.

The former Ramsgate boss succeeds Scott Porter, who quit Reachfields earlier this month following a dispute over the club's playing budget for next season.

Hythe have since appointed Trevor Kennett as chairman and his first job was to find Porter's replacement.

Dixon managed Ramsgate for almost two years.

He took over from Jim Ward in April 2012 and led the Rams to a seventh-placed finish in Ryman League Division 1 South the following season, before being sacked in February 2014.

Darren Beale, who Dixon worked with at Ramsgate, will be on his Hythe backroom staff.

A statement on the club's website said: "Tim, 49, was chosen from a high-quality shortlist, established after the club received over 20 applications for the vacant managerial position at Reachfields.

"He brings a wealth of experience to the role, his previous position being first-team manager at local Ryman South rivals, Ramsgate."
