Advice on workplace disputes

HELP is at hand for small business owners who need to get their heads around new rules on resolving workplace disputes.

Citizens Advice Bureau in Swale is holding a seminar to give small businesses advice on the subject.

It will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 2pm to 4pm at the UK Paper Club, Avenue of Remembrance, Sittingbourne.

CAB manager Irene Hall said: "Last year we dealt with more than 1,400 enquiries concerning employment; many of those problems were caused by the complexity of employment laws which makes it difficult for employers to understand employment rights."

The new regulations, enforced by the Department for Transport and Industry on October 1, require employers to use a three-step procedure for handling disciplinary procedures, dismissal and grievances at work.

The seminar costs £20 and places can be booked by contacting Sheila Manley on 01795 436520.
