A Dutch startup company has big plans for the future after its move to a Kent business park.

Skycap, formed in the Netherlands, is a geospatial intelligence company specialising in the use of unmanned aerial systems.

The company moved to Discovery Park, Sandwich, last month with the aim to expand and work on the launch of new products.

Since forming in 2014, the business uses groundbreaking technology in the form of drones – supplying high-resolution images and surveys to the engineering and utlities industries.

Headquartered in Malta with established operations in the UK, the Netherlands, and South Africa, Skycap has successfully completed a number of missions for high end clients in Europe, Africa, East Asia and the USA.

Skycap was awarded ‘Most Innovative Startup’ award by SME Netherlands in 2014.

Since taking a tour of the business park last year, members of the company were impressed with the calibre of businesses on site – recognising the potential the site held.

The office was then set up in order to create a presence in the South East, where Skycap hopes to grow as an organisation.

Discovery Park is enticing large and small businesses to fill vacant office space

Patrick Rickerby, director of Skycap’s geospatial solutions said: “Over the next 12 months, we hope to grow our survey team and take on a number of pilots. We also want to grow to be the best in our field across the UK.

"Discovery Park provides a great environment for collaboration but it is also a place to focus and get down to business.”

Skycap dedicates itself to innovation, and has exciting plans to unveil groundbreaking products in the future, including an unmanned aerial systems-based Ground Penetrating Radar, which has will have a significant contribution in efforts to map the world’s 100 million undetected landmines.
