THE county's building and construction industry is set for a boost from the move of 14 staff and almost 300 civil engineering students to Chatham Maritime. The faculty has moved to the Medway campus of the University of Greenwich.

Specialist laboratories and workshops are being created in modern facilities on the university's campus at Chatham Maritime as part of a £4 million investment in Medway.

The university has pledged to work with local businesses to help them solve their civil engineering problems. "The move of Civil Engineering to Medway is part of the doubling of the student numbers on campus to almost 3,000 by September this year," said campus director Steve Wallis.
