Aylesford-based Gallagher Group doubles concrete production capacity after buying 4 sites from Cemex UK

Civil engineering firm the Gallagher Group has dramatically expanded after snapping up a number of concrete plants.

The firm, headquartered in Aylesford, has acquired four sites from Cemex UK. They include new facilities in Tunbridge Wells, Sittingbourne, Margate and Dover

All jobs at the plants have been protected, and additional roles, among them drivers and management, created.

It represents the group's first external acquisition and expands its concrete plants from two - in Maidstone and Ashford - to six.

It will more than double its annual production capacity.

Explains Sean Connor, managing director of Gallagher Aggregates: "We’re investing significant sums in upgrading these sites, as well as adding to our mixer fleet and taking on additional staff. It’s all part of our fundamental commitment to getting the right product to the right place at the right time and price for our customers, wherever they are.”

Gallagher Group was advised by law firm Brachers, which has offices in Maidstone and Canterbury, throughout the acquisition.
