Checking what's in the wind

THE developers of the proposed off-shore wind farm are to have regular meetings with Whitstable councillors.

Members of the steering group agreed this week to keep in touch with engineers at Danish firm NEG Micon, which is behind the scheme. They planned to encourage the firm to make sure the development did not have any negative effect on the area.

Gorrell councillor Wes McLachlan said: "The Whitstable councillors on the harbour panel will be in contact with Peter Clibbon at NEG Micon and will encourage him along the right lines."

Tankerton councillor Martin Fisher attended the public meeting last week and said it was well attended and helped answer some of the concerns about visibility and noise. The group agreed it was too early for them to express a positive or negative view about the planned wind farm.
